i dont see how it makes Sony dumb to discontinue the product which barely had 10% of the total demand. 90% of the ppl who bought the ps3 bought the 60gb, for just $100 extra they got the extra space, wifi, etc. so why keep wasting money on making a product that will just sit on store shelves. its better for them, they can save money by not making something ppl arent buying.
and if u really wanted the 20gb theres plenty on ebay. i know some ppl might wanna save money and get the 20gb from stores, but i guess sony would rather save alot of money than just to please like 10% of those ppl buying ps3's.
I believe it will soon be discontinued everywhere - not sure why - I suppose when you spend that amount of money, you may as well go crazy and by the big toy...

It's just North America as of now. There is no clear answer yet if the 20gb model has been axed in Europe, SCEE said they will continue to monitor demand. The 20gb model will continue to be sold in Japan.
Yeah I guess if you're spending $500 on it, you might as well spend another $100 and get the top end version. But the price of the 60gb will definately go down within the past year when Blu-ray production costs drop. And it's not like they can make the 20gb lower to like $300 or $400 now either so it's not that bad of a decision.
